The Apples

The world needs more trees. Our cities need more trees. Its time we thought about sustainable, local food and produce, and how it can be achieved in large urban cities. Trees are spectacular. They represent an incredible form of nature’s diverse and wonderful art. Trees clean our air; they give life and are an integral part of the earth’s central nervous system. Most of our planet would die without them.

The idea of the Orchard originated from a desire to create something important for the neighbourhood of Victoria Park. An amenity for all to enjoy but also a contribution of art. This orchard is a source of food, a high design art park, a respite for Calgarian’s and an environmental asset for the city. Sixty apple trees, half September Ruby and half Parkland, fruit bearing, delicious edible apples. Walk, sit, play, meet, greet and eat – this orchard is for all to enjoy.
